Field Trip: Haute Goat Creamery
Join Slow Food North Louisiana as we caravan over to Haute Goat Creamery in White Oak, TX (just slightly west of Longview) for a tour and to learn their process for making delicious and award-winning goat cheese. And of course, some cheese tasting. There is no charge to attend, and if you are feeling it and have a driver it is BYOB. To be clear, this is the creamery only; the goats they get the milk from live elsewhere in east Texas.
Most of you likely know Haute Goat from area farmers markets and some local shops, but here is a note about what they do, taken from their website:
“Artisan cheese is created in small batches by hand with recipes that have passed down from generation to generation. Some of our Artisan Cheeses will be familiar; others will be a new experience.”
The address is Haute Goat Creamery, 1908 East US Highway 80, White Oak TX 75693, phone 903-462-2542. Per the owners, GPS can do strange things with this address so note that it is on the south side of Hwy 80 in a business park called Savage Village. If you would like to carpool, please say so below and we’ll try to pair some of you up. or you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This event is free of charge. Children are welcome.
