Fete on the Farm

  • Mahaffey Farms Bed & Breakfast 434 Mahaffey Road Princeton, LA, 71067 United States (map)

**TICKET SALES HAVE ENDED FOR THIS EVENT**

Fete on the Farm 2022 will be Sunday, October 30 from 5-8 pm in the serene setting of Mahaffey Farms original Farmhouse in Princeton, LA (five miles east of Louisiana Downs), now a charming Bed & Breakfast. Fete on the Farm is an annual fundraiser to support the programs of Slow Food North Louisiana. Our mission is to celebrate foodways in our region that are good, clean and fair.

Chef Gabriel Balderas, owner of El Cabo Verde and Zuzul Coastal Cuisine in Shreveport, Slow Food North Louisiana Board member and Slow Food International Chefs Alliance member, is creating a team of chefs that are local and from afar to prepare a delicious dinner featuring local and sustainable foods. Joining Chef Balderas will be:

  • Amarys Koenig Herndon and Jordan Herndon, chef-owners of Palm&Pine, a New Orleans restaurant featuring the cuisines and culinary traditions of “the South and south of that” (Louisiana, the southern states, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America).

  • Niema Longstratt, chef/owner of RNL's Cookery Corner, a food trailer based in Shreveport where West African, Caribbean and American cuisine fuse.

  • Roger Peterson, chef at Zuzul Coastal Cuisine. Roger was born into a family with generations of tradition in growing and preparing fresh and delicious food, and works with his family farm, Learning Legacies in Blanchard, LA. He helped open three locations of the award-winning City Pork Restaurant Group in Baton Rouge. He has wide experience with charcuterie, and is currently exploring the health and culinary benefits of fermentation.

More details to come on what to expect for our menu, but the chefs are committed to using as many products as they can from the Slow Food Ark of Taste, a catalog of vegetables, fruits and animal breeds at risk of extinction because of industrial food production.

Tickets can be purchased below. Included with your meal are non-alcoholic and adult beverage choices (must be 21 to consume alcohol at this event) and live music provided by Shreveport-based duo Big Wheels.

  • General Admission: $125

  • Slow Food Member: $105 (discount code sent to email on file)

Big thanks to our Fete Sponsors!
